Curriculum: The curriculum for each Faculty Institute varies based on the individual participant's expressed needs and interests. Some examples of content covered in past Faculty Institutes are listed below:
* Planning for instruction in a Family Medicine department or residency program.
*Clinical teaching including leading small group discussion, demonstration, use of consultants and other resources, one-on-one clinical precepting.
*Curriculum Design
*Conducting Research in Family Medicine
*Other topics as requested by participating faculty.
Program Methods: Like the curriculum of the Faculty Institute, the methods of instruction vary according to the particpant's needs, interests, and specific situtations. Some examples of the typical methods used in past Faculty Institutes are listed below:
*Observation, discussion and tutorial work with FDC staff and physician faculty at the McLennan County Family Medicine Residency Program.
*Individual instruction and related readings in selected faculty skills such as clinical teaching, teaching medical interviewiing, curriculum planning, evaluation and other topics as arranged.
*Consultation regarding research design, statistical analysis, writing and publication.
*Practice teaching exercises with feedback.
*Personal career development and assessment.
